It’s Thursday afternoon which means, yes that’s right, the weekend is upon us. So here are a few things going on in and around Guildford this weekend for you and the family to enjoy.

Guildford on Sea – The Urban Beach

Lifes a beach when you visit Guildford this weekend, as families and visitors can enjoy all the fun of the seaside slap bang in the middle of town.

Guildford may be an hour from the coast, but ‘experience Guildford’ are making waves by bringing a family fun beach to the banks of the river Whey.

So why not enjoy a spot of sunshine and the sand between your toes after a hectic week at the office?

Guildford Museum

Guildford Museum cares for thousands of exhibits dating from the prehistoric times, so why not give the museum a try this weekend?

The museum’s permanent collection includes objects and pictures covering local trades, industries and social history.

Guildford Museum is open Mondays to Sundays, 11am – 5pm. Last entry 4:45 pm.

Peatbog Faeries

Based on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog faeries incorporate many influences which take them from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more.

The band have toured all over the world and won numerous awards, including the ‘Best live act’ at the prestigious Scots trad music awards.

Their inventive and unique approach always brings to its audience, a true flavour of traditional Scottish music.

When: Saturday August 15, 7:30pm.

Lunch by the lock (River Wey and Godalming Navigations and Dapdune Wharf)

How about walk up to Bowers Lock with Richard, the lengths man for Stoke length, followed by a picnic lunch at the lock-side. Then, what better way to get back to Daphne Wharf than in the electrical launch? With the sun shining, this could be hard to beat.

Guildford Castle Bandstand Concert

On Sunday August 16, why not head along to Guildford castle to enjoy some traditional and dixieland Jazz? Grandpas Spells Jazz Band will be performing from 2pm – 4pm and we can think of no better way to brighten up your Sunday afternoon.
