Are you an early bird? Fancy raising money for an extremely worthwhile cause?
The Sunrise Walk is the perfect opportunity to team up with your loved ones and experience some of southwest London’s most picturesque sights as the sun rises – all while raising money for bereaved families supported by Shooting Star Chase.
The Sunrise Walk starts at Ham House on Sunday 4 June at 4:30am and offers two routes – the much-loved 20km challenge and a new 10km option ideal for families with children. Both routes take walkers past stunning sights including Richmond Park, Ham Common, Bushy Park and Hampton Court Palace. Walkers taking part in memory of someone will be offered a free lantern to hang on the Celebration Tree to light the start line.
After the walk you can celebrate your achievements at the post-walk picnic, where you’ll receive a commemorative medal, get a free hot breakfast, and enjoy activities and entertainment. All participants are also able to explore the gardens at Ham House free of charge after the walk.
The fundraiser will enable Shooting Star Chase to continue providing services such as bereavement counselling for parents, siblings and other family members who are coping with the devastating loss of a child.
Supported mum Leanne, who took part in the Sunrise Walk in 2014 and 2016 in memory of her daughter, said “It’s such a lovely event because it raises money for bereaved families like us and I know just how vital the support from the hospice has been to me and my children in coping with Isabelle’s death. I can’t imagine what life would be like without Shooting Star Chase – I don’t even know what I would have done.”
